Calf Creek, TX: Calf Creek was the first ghost town I explored when I lived in TX.  The pictures are of a schoolhouse built in 1921.  The floors inside were unstable, animals scurried about, and there was litter scattered throughout.  I did not go through every room because I was a bit spooked.  Across from the schoolhouse is a large cemetery.

Calf Creek is best known for the battle between Jim Bowie (plus his ten friends) and Indians (Waco, Caddo, Tawakoni) in 1831.  Bowie & co. defeated some 50 Indians while only losing one of their own. Update: David Deland of CalfCreek.net has a fantastic site dedicated to this town.  My information is not completely accurate, so I urge you to visit this site!

Doole, TX: Established in 1908. There are several abandoned commercial buildings and a few occupied homes left in the area.  The highlight of my visit was when I found the concrete bleachers & ticket booth from what was once an athletic field from the Crossroads School.  The school is gone but the rock walls, the concrete bleachers, and ticket booth remain.  My visit was very, very brief because of gun shots near by.
